Celebrations for Meeting my Goals

Lately I've been thinking about rewards for goals that I achieve.  In the past, I've always rewarded myself with food, but I won't be doing that now.  I was reading a post on Obesity Help and the whole idea of being incentivised is a bit odd, so instead of rewarding myself I will be celebrating myself for certain goals that I meet. Here are my tentative celebrations for each 25 lbs I loose.

Yesterday was hard...

So, yesterday I had a mini breakdown and ended up eating two slices of pizza.  Did I cry afterwards? Yes.  Was I disappointed in myself? Yes.  However, I moved on.  We all make mistakes and I did not allow my mistake from yesterday to bring me down today. Today was actually my best day on the diet so far.  I wasn't tempted at all to "cheat" and I stuck with the protein shakes and non-starchy veggies.  Just remembering why I am doing this and thinking about all of the benefits is enough to help me through this!

Only 9 days until surgery.

Pre-Op Diet


My pre-op diet began on December 23rd and lasts for two weeks before the surgery.  The purpose of the diet is to shrink your liver so that surgery is safer.  The pre-op diet consists of 6 approved protein shakes a day plus non-starchy veggies (like cabbage, tomatoes, broccoli, cauliflower, etc...).  The first day was pretty challenging, but I'm making it through.  Thankfully, it's just my husband and our dogs so I will not be doing any cooking for like the next month or so.  My husband can cook for himself (I know, what a miracle in this day in age, jk jk).  Actually my husband is my biggest support.  I could not do this without him.  He has had my back this entire journey thus far.

Drinking a 6 pack a day, ha
